OUR VILLAGE     Glass-blowing dates back to the 14th century. Orders from the Palais des Rois de Majorque in Perpignan and the Chateau Royal in Collioure encouraged the development of a wide range of traditional skills throughout our department. In the 15th century, the activity of glassmakers was so intense that it gave its name Palau Del Vidre "Palacium Vitri", "Palace of Glass", in Catalan. The demonstrations by resident glassmakers, the international glass festival, the church and the village's architecture are all of great interest.

The village is very attached to Catalan festivals and traditions, which you can take part in at Easter, Christmas or during the Saint John's Day bonfires. In summer, there are classical music concerts, painting exhibitions, the International Glass Festival, the glassmaking summer, free concerts once or twice a week, and the motorbike weekend in September. A landscaped lake awaits you for walks, cycle rides, fishing, games and tree climbing in summer and during the school holidays, weather permitting. See the Palau Aventures Facebook page for opening times.

The glassmakers:  Susanna Fonseré, 56, avenue Joliot Curie. Blown glass. Self-taught, she has been working with torch-blown glass for over 10 years. Verrerie d'Art Jorge Mateus. Master glassmaker. Exceptional expertise with free demonstrations. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm, Place Del Gall. In the greatest tradition of French know-how, unique and rare pieces are created in this workshop in the Catalan region.  L'effet Verre, 2 Place Del Gall. Marie Munos creates unique jewellery in Murano glass. April to September: Monday to Saturday, 10am to 12pm and 2.30pm to 6.30pm. ON A CULTURAL LEVEL :

You're in for a treat if you like arts and crafts, visits to wine cellars, churches, caves, cloisters, museums, typical villages and the remarkable sites of the historic cities of Perpignan, Barcelona, Figueres. Carcassonne, Girona, Narbonne, etc.

FROM A NATURE PERSPECTIVE :

There are plenty of starting points for walks, horse-riding, mountain biking, cycling, 2 horse-drawn vehicles, mopeds and canyoning, both in the mountains and by the sea.

Be sure to find out all you can before you leave, especially about the Albères massif, which is closest to our house. Mountains are mountains. On this massif there are dangerous places off the beaten track. And the cows of the Albères can be rebellious if they are suckling their calves. There are several starting points from the Château de Valmy. The Laroque des Albères tourist office  20 Rue Dr Raymond Carbonneil, 66740 Laroque-des-Albères, tel: +33 (0)4 48 98 00 09 will provide you with information if necessary.

The Pyrenees Mediterranean tourist office is interesting, don't hesitate to take a look :  https://www.tourisme-pyrenees-mediterranee.com/

or to talk with us about what you may do.

Enjoy it.  Sincerely yours, Laurence and Olivier

RULES for our RENTAL

1. No parties or events

2. In accordance with the guidelines for tourist accommodation, any person not registered at the time of booking is not covered by our insurance.

3. No eating or drinking in rooms or mezzanines Food and drink stains are a major problem.  Compensation may be claimed in the event of food or drink stains.

4. Do not jump on beds

 5. Be careful not to block the sewerage network

Do not throw sanitary napkins or wipes down the toilet, in the annex or even in the villa. Do not spill sauces or grease down sinks. Make good use of sink racks. Try to prevent hair from flowing down the drain. The same goes for the pool: if you lose a hair clip or a scrunchie, try to get them back. I added this section recently because our plumber is an angel, but we prefer not to see him too often. The annex is equipped with 2 Sanibroyeurs, one of which is new.

6. Glasses and breakable crockery are forbidden in and around the pool.

7. The day before and the day of departure,

1°/ The day before, let us know what time you expect to collect the keys.

2°/ Unmake the beds and leave the appropriate linen on each bed. Put your towels in the bathtub in the villa and in the shower in the annex. The rest of the dirty linen, tea towels, towels and foutas, can be left in the safe in the living room. Put dirty tea towels and floor cloths on the washing line.

3/ Put your bin bags in the brown bin and your recyclable waste in the yellow bin. Don't mix them up, as it's not easy to sort everything.

4°/ Ideally, put your glass bottles in one of the village containers. If this is not the case, ask us and we will do it for you. This only concerns the last bottles. You are, of course, responsible for the rest of your stay.

5°/ When you leave, all crockery must be put in the dishwasher and must be unused or clean if it has been put away.

8. Do not smoke indoors And do not throw cigarette butts into the ashtrays.

9. Self-tanning - body oils and sun cream - If you use self-tanning or body oils, please bring your own linen, as any stained linen will be charged extra.

10. Energy consumption in your absence We would like to draw your attention to the fact that you should turn off the lights and air conditioning (or bathroom radiators) when you no longer need them. Don't leave them on all day while you're away. Be sure to close all doors and windows when the air conditioning is on. Please note that we do not allow electric or hybrid vehicles to be recharged.

11. We accept pets. See our pet charter (appendix 1).

12 Arrival and departure times Arrivals are from 4pm and luggage can be dropped off from 11am. Departures must be no later than 10.00 am.

13. Curfew - Reduction of noise pollution: Respect for neighbours is a priority for all owners and users of furnished holiday accommodation. This is why, in accordance with the recommendations of Airbnb, Abritel and Gites de France, our rental property respects a ‘noise curfew’ between 10pm and 8.30am on weekdays and 9.30am on Sundays.

14. Keys and remote controls: If you lose your key or a set of keys, it can be very inconvenient and take a lot of time to come and help you get in. And if the key is lost for good, you may have to change the lock, replace the gate remote control and make several new sets of keys, as there are other sets of keys in circulation.

15. Compliance with pool safety rules and closing the gate. The gate must remain closed at all times. When the pool is ‘open’, extra care must be taken to ensure everyone's safety. It is essential that anyone with a remote control for the gate is informed and made aware of this point. Make sure that the gate is completely closed before you leave.

16. Compliance with current regulations: Reservation of our accommodation implies that you comply with the municipal and governmental regulations in force.

and government regulations. In summer, these include fire prevention rules, respect for beaches and the environment, selective waste collection and the 30 km/h speed limit in Palau-Del-Vidre.
